Unique story about the last days of St Maximilian Kolbe | EWTN Norge

An upcoming film from EWTN Norway provides a unique insight into the final days of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, the saint who sacrificed his life for a fellow prisoner at Auschwitz. Based on an interview with Tadeusz Raznikiewicz, an Auschwitz survivor, the film provides a gripping testimony of Kolbe's final actions.

Tadeusz Raznikiewicz (1921-2014) was in the same barracks as Kolbe in 1941 and was present the day Kolbe gave his life in exchange for a fellow prisoner. The interview, conducted in Uppsala, Sweden, provides a rare first-hand perspective on this important event.

After the war, Raznikiewicz came to Sweden on the famous Swedish white buses, having survived both Auschwitz and the bombing of the ship Cap Arcona in the Bay of Lübeck.

The film, written by Clemens Cavallin, is based on an interview conducted by Peter Wiberg. It aims to emphasise human courage and self-sacrifice in difficult times.

This story sheds light on the last days of Saint Maximilian Kolbe and provides a deep understanding of his faith and humanity. The project is expected to be completed in winter 2025.
