Pope Francis honors the deceased on All Souls' Day
On November 2, Pope Francis celebrated a meaningful All Souls' Day Mass at Rome's Laurentino Cemetery, where he was joined by the Mayor of Rome and more than 100 faithful at the city's third largest cemetery. On this solemn occasion, the Holy Father emphasized the promise of the Resurrection, stating that "mortal bodies will awake on the last day.
In a touching gesture, Pope Francis placed white roses at the Garden of Angels memorial stone, a space created in 2012 for families mourning lost children, including those lost through miscarriage. This act held special significance, as the Pope's November prayer intention focuses on parents who have experienced the loss of a child.
Rather than deliver a traditional homily, the Pope chose to observe a moment of silence during the Mass and concluded the ceremony by leading the congregation in a special prayer for the deceased.
